the best birthday..

October 5, 2010, my 21^st birthday..I always look forward to my birthday, just like everyone does. I like getting birthday wishes and going out to dinner with my love to eat my favorite food (Mexican). Well that day I woke up thinking “it’s my birthday!” just like every year I was looking forward to my birthday dinner and getting “happy birthday’s” from my friends, but this birthday I got the ultimate birthday present. We were going to be parents! 

…around April of the same year Kenny and I decided we wanted to try to get pregnant. So I, of course, did all the necessary things a woman does when she wants to have baby. In the middle of trying, my best friend and cousin Brandie found out she was pregnant. As my excitement grew for her so did my impatience. As time went on we found out that Brandie would be having a baby girl. Around that same time I went to the doctor to get checked out and found out I was 5 weeks pregnant! I will never forget the look on Kenny’s face when I told him. I had my doubts that I was actually pregnant, but once the nurse told me I ran to get Kenny and all the joy and happiness was written all over his face! We were both tearing up as we stood listening to the nurse talk about Soonercare and all the other things we needed to do before the baby got here. Everything was kind of a blur after that I just knew we had to get to Pryor to tell my mom she was going to be a grandma. Once we got to her job I went and knocked on her door and before she could even say hi to us I blurted out “I’m pregnant!” there was hugging, jumping, screaming and crying going on for the next few seconds then she went to tell everyone she was going to be a grandma. The next person we told was Brandie, of course. We talked about how being pregnant together was going to be so much fun! The next phone call I made was to Washington, to Devyn Timmons, I couldn’t wait to tell her she was going to be an “aunt”.  After we talked for a while we made our way to Peggs, to tell my meemaw and pawpaw. The moment I worked through the door my pawpaw knew. I sat down and he said “so, when are you due?” after all the calls to family and friends I took to Facebook to announce our news!

Nothing will ever top that birthday and I only have one person to thank for that special gift and that’s God. He blessed our life with the most precious gift any two people can have.
